Letters We Never Sent: a personal note behind the music

An online message in 2005 became the beginning of a life together. Letters We Never Sent imagines the quiet, bittersweet world in which that first conversation never happened.

This one started from a very personal place.

More than twenty years ago, before messages became as disposable as they often feel today, one small online message changed the direction of my life.

We met online in 2005. She sent me a message. I replied. We started talking.

That was it.

A small thing, really. One message. One reply. One conversation.

But looking back, that tiny moment changed everything.

So the idea behind Letters We Never Sent came from a simple but uncomfortable question:

What if she had never sent that first message?

Not as a dramatic sci-fi concept. Not as a big multiverse story. Just as a quiet, sad alternative version of reality.

A version where I somehow still know what was lost.

A version where all the feelings are there, but the first conversation never happens.

A version where the letters, messages and words exist only in my head, because we never met and I could never send them to her.

That became the emotional foundation of the album.

The music is not meant to be huge or dramatic. It is mostly quiet, warm and bittersweet: piano, acoustic guitar, soft strings, bells, brushed percussion and small emotional themes that feel like they belong under conversations, memories, missed chances and late-night thoughts.

The cover also came from that idea: two people on a train platform, standing close enough to share the same moment, but still separated. A letter in one hand. A train waiting. Rain on the ground. Nothing loud happening. Just the feeling that something important may never be said.

That is the kind of space I wanted this soundtrack to live in.

For developers, Letters We Never Sent is a romantic visual novel music pack, but I tried to keep it broader than just “romance music”. It can work for visual novels, dating sims, slice-of-life games, narrative adventures, emotional dialogue, friendship scenes, memories, goodbyes, unresolved conversations and quiet endings.

There are 20 main tracks and 7 additional bonus scene tracks in the complete itch.io version. The main album follows a loose emotional arc: first messages, quiet routines, small warmth, almost-confessions, distance, regret, and finally a softer kind of closure.

Most of my releases begin with a story world.

Sometimes it is a village, a detective case, a haunted inn, a tropical bay, or a quiet place a developer might want to bring to life.

This one began somewhere much closer to home.

It began with a message from 2005.

And with the thought that sometimes an entire life can begin with someone deciding to say hello.

Thanks for reading.
